Solar rebates Won’t Last Forever

We understand that receiving kickbacks from the government or local utility is a great opportunity, but these rebates don’t last forever. These incentive systems are designed for early adoption, and as more people go solar, the benefits progressively become lower until they are completely phased out.

What Types of Solar Rebates are there in Alberta?

Typically, solar rebates can come from three levels of Government—Federal, Provincial, and Municipal.

While we will cover these in more detail below, we have included extra reading in our resources section at the bottom of this article for you to explore.

Prepare Ahead

Getting your rebates will take some time, and to ensure nothing gets delayed, you will want to ready the necessary paperwork and requirements.

Here is a recommended list of things you’ll need to keep and prepare:

  • Pre and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation receipts.
  • Receipts and invoices that show products purchased and installation costs are marked and/or paid in full.
  • A copy of the letter of approval or permission for interconnection issued by the local electrical or building authority. (For grid-connected solar PV systems)
  • An attestation form (if applicable for your retrofits)

While rebate programs will have different requirements, these are the go-to documents that are commonly looked for. If you have any questions, Gridworks Energy is here to help you every step of the way.

Solar rebates Won’t Last Forever

One of the most notable rebate programs is Alberta’s Clean Energy Improvement Program, which allows property owners long-term financing through their municipality. Repayment terms are up to 25 years and are paid off through tax added to the property’s tax bill.

What makes this rebate program different, however, is that the project is attached to the property, not the owner.

Gridworks Energy can make the process convenient and hassle-free.
